Rösti is a Swiss dish consisting mainly of potatoes, cooked slowly on a shallow pan. There are different ways to prepare the potatoes, some boiling the potatoes first and then grate them, some wash the potatoes multiple times. We are gonna make the Rösti in a super easy method, which I found out is almost equal to the other ones. I served the Rösti with sour cream, smoked salmon and dill. It's not traditional but it's very delicious, and fit amazingly. This year I'm gonna celebrate Hanukkah with the awesome latkes, they are incredible.

Ingredients

For the Rösti

3 ½ potatoes

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp extra virgin olive oil

For serving

1 Rösti

2 ½ slices of cold smoked salmon

1 tbsp sour cream

Dill

Directions

Step 1

Wash the potato well, leave the skin on.

3 ½ potatoes

Step 2

Grate the potatoes roughly and wash them in a bowl with water.

Step 3

Squeeze the potatoes, trying to get off as much water as possible.

Step 4

In a bowl mix the potatoes with salt, black pepper and olive oil.

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp extra virgin olive oil

Step 5

Flatten the potato mix on an oiled pan. Cook on low-medium heat for 10-15 min, checking constantly to avoid burning. Pay attention, the potatoes need time to cook as we start from raw potatoes.

Step 6

Flip the Rösti- place a plate or a cutting board on top of the pan, flip the Rösti and slide it back to the pan. Cook for additional 10-15 min.

Step 7

Remove and set on a net to rest for 2-3 min. If you want a crispier result, place the rösti in an air fryer for 10 min.

Step 8

Add sour cream, smoked salmon and dill.

1 Rösti

2 ½ slices of cold smoked salmon

1 tbsp sour cream

Dill
